Recovery support after meningitis - Keeping a beautiful company alive
I am Nathalie, Maarten's life partner and mother of our 11 month old baby Lumen. I am proud of him and where he has taken his dream, La Bella Verde, so far. He has built this company over the past decade and has been running it by himself for years - it’s his life’s work.
La Bella Verde, a true passion project, is his vision to keep the oceans clean, by building and chartering green, sustainable, solar powered catamarans and franchising them around the world (www.labellaverde.com)
Just now Maarten suffered from meningitis at the age of 34, he was in a coma for a few days and hospitalized for a few weeks.
He is home now and slowly recovering, however we do not know how long the recovery process of this infection will take. We are keeping into account it could take months before he is back at full capacity.
Peace, quiet, no screens, sleep and most importantly; no stress, are the things that will help his recovery the most. So for now he is not able to run his business as he needs to focus on his healing process.
The season is about to start and normally Maarten would be in full power preparing the season; marketing, sales, coordinating the team, business development and making sure everything is ready.
To keep La Bella Verde running during his recovery, we need to bring in support. We will have to outsource the work that he is unable to do right now. Obviously this was never something we expected, budgeted or planned for, which is why we need to ask for help.
I’ve seen this man work so hard over the past years, always showing up and putting his life’s work before himself. Now he’s (not so) humbly being forced to take care of himself first.
Determined as he is, he has still been trying to work a little every day, but he’s simply not capable of doing that. I was relieved when he said ‘’I need support, I can’t do this on my own.’’
So here am I asking for your support, for an idealistic little pirate at heart who only wants to bring good into the world and seas. I don’t want to see him loose his life’s work while he has to focus becoming our healthy Maarten again.
With love,
Nath
