Hello, my name is Laxman and I am fundraising for my maternal uncle, S.Thiyagarajan (Raja). Raja is 52 Yrs old, male and single. Resides in a town called Theni in the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India. Sincere and hardworking, he owns and operates a very small storefront that he built by himself, where he sells goods and services to his local community. My mother is one of his eldest sisters, and I have known Raja since my childhood.
On Feb 18, 2023, Raja was sideswiped by a motorist while he was on his way to purchase goods for his store on his two-wheeler. He was unfortunately dragged on the road for quite some time before his vehicle came to a stop. Raja lay bleeding and injured on the street before passersby helped get him to the local government hospital. He sustained injuries to his head, torso and leg - mainly on his right side while he was dragged on the street. Not much treatment was administered to Raja at the local government hospital. Given the injuries suffered and the lack of adequate treatment, my relatives decide to shift him to the city of Madurai to a better hospital where he could be administered better diagnosis and treatment. He was admitted to Preethi Hospital on Feb 20, 2023.
He is recovering from a head injury in addition to a whole host of other issues, like a punctured lung, and a fracture on his right shoulder. His condition now is stable, but critical. He now has tunnel vision in his left eye, but his right eye is not in the best shape. He is in need of an embolization procedure to save his right eye. Cerebral angiography was performed on Feb 24, 2023. He is due for an orthopedic intervention (surgery) for his shoulder on Feb 28. We expect him to be in the hospital for a few weeks, and will require months of care before he can return to his store. At this point, we are not sure if he will be able to go back and manage his store.
His hospital costs are approximately Rs. 20,000 per day. Surgery costs will run to Rs. 10 to 12 Lakhs (Rs 10,00,000 to Rs 12,00,000) conservatively. At this point, we don't know what the total amount will be, and these are just the projected costs.
Our family needs your help to offset the costs of his various surgeries, and post-operative care, and to help provide some seed money (if remaining) to help for his sustenance. As a family, we have come together to help out with the initial finances. But, we need more financial resources to help Raja, and I would be very grateful if you can help Raja get back on his feet with your contributions.
