Patrick - a loving and dedicated grandfather, father, and husband, as well as a generous friend - suffered a life-altering accident on Sunday November 14, 2021 while helping his wife with their fall yard clean-up.

Hi, my name is Lynnette Fawess. I have started this GoFundMe page on behalf of my loving father Patrick O'Hanlon, whose recent accident has been heartbreaking for all that are close to him.

Patrick is known as a friend of many and always ready to offer help to anyone in need at any time. He is a maker and creator and has always been known as someone to go to when you have a problem or need help. Working his whole life in the construction field, his hands are his livelihood.

Tragically, Patrick tripped while pulling his lawnmower and started to pull it onto himself. In an effort to push it away, his hand pushed into the blades. Patrick instantly lost his thumb and subsequently has lost his forefinger. His other fingers were mangled. His fingers, and use of hand in general, has been left in question.

Patrick was rushed to the hospital where the ER doctor spent the day examining his options. He had the hand and finger wounds cleaned and closed up, and they tended to the amputated thumb. He was sent home to wait until he could schedule a surgery with a hand surgeon. He had major surgery two days later and another surgery two weeks later.

He is looking at a long recovery timeframe, and won’t be working with this hand for the foreseeable future. His wife is his full time care for him right now, adding additional strain since she needed to be home from work to do so.

In addition, this situation has instantly presented financial hardships. With no medical insurance, the expenses for the initial hospital visit and surgery are already at an astronomical number. Now learning of the need for follow up surgeries as well as frequent visits for physical therapy, is overwhelming to Patrick and his wife. Plus, without Patrick being able to do his own home maintenance, they will be incurring additional expenses.

Patrick is known to be someone that doesn’t ask for much at all and has always lived modestly and within his means. He is always looking to give to others, but at this time he is facing no other option other than to look to others and ask for help.
