I'm raising funds to help with recovery following surgery. A year ago, I was raped, and have been suffering from persistent physical and mental issues since. This will be the second surgery that has been needed following the attack . My hope is that after this second, slightly more invasive procedure, that the issue causing intense pain will be able to fully heal, and I will be at peace to work on mental recovery without such an intense physical reminder each day.

Funds raised would go to help with meals in the short term recovery following the surgery, and any additional funds will go to recovery and treatment expenses. The state has a victim reimbursement program which was able to recoup some direct medication costs, but they have not reimbursed for the clothing and items that were taken into evidence. They have said that they are waiting on an evidence log from the police, but given that its been almost a year, and the PD has given no response despite multiple requests, I'm not confident in the timeframe of that. Given that the state's victim reimbursement process has been so slow overall (it was nine months before I was assigned an advocate or had my case reviewed), I am not holding my breath. It would be great to have another way to replace those items, and the few that weren't taken, but have heavy associations with the event.
