On Tuesday January 16th, Corey was on his way to work on 35W northbound in Burnsville just like every other day. This morning was very cold, and he hit a patch of ice on the freeway and his vehicle spun out of control. When it came to a complete stop, Corey was not able to prepare for what was about to happen next.
Corey was T-Boned by A Semi truck.
Corey was unconscious. When he awoke, he had surgery to repair 2 broken bones and a dislocated joint in his left elbow, a small brain bleed, Traumatic brain injury and is currently very confused, having to learn small tasks. He will be released to a rehabilitation when he is released from the hospital.
As most of you know it will be months before Corey returns to work and when he does, he will need both hands. This will be a very long recovery.
My Dear friend, LaWanda whom is Coreys wife received phone call on Tuesday from a State Trooper with no details except Corey was in an accident. She rushed to the hospital and has only been able to leave his side for a little bit here and there to shower, grab necessities from home while having to worry about what next.
Insurance, Vehicles, Mortgage, food, a new vehicle and even 30.00/day parking at the hospital.
Let's come together as a community to support Corey and Lawanda during this challenging time. Your contributions will make a significant impact on their journey to recovery.
Any amount is greatly appreciated. Let's show our love and help ease the financial burden they now face.
Thank you for being a part of the Paxton's Support network.
With Gratitude, Kelly Rashaw
Lawanda will be updating on Coreys progress from here.
