Recovery Fund for the Fire at 3400 Snyder Ave

Donation protected

It is with a very heavy heart that the Flatbush Residents against Maxx Properties are gathering financial support for our neighbors impacted by a devastating fire at 3400 Snyder Ave on Sunday Janaury 22, 2023.

Since 2022, The Flatbush Residents Against Maxx Properties has been demanding mold removal, repairs, heat along with fire safety for the residents of 282 E. 35th St., 285 E. 35th St., 3400 Snyder Ave., and 3500 Snyder Ave.

We are especially grieving over the loss of 13-year-old, Dillon Waldren-Dickson who perished in the fire and send our deepest condolences to his mother, family and friends.

We are gathering funds for all of our neighbors who have been displaced and/ or impacted by this fire. If you’ve been directly impacted by the fire at 3400 Snyder, please contact Equality for Flatbush (E4F) our organizing partner, at [phone redacted].

Most importantly, we want to stand together to continue to demand fire safety for all our buildings. The unanimous complaint is that fire alarms did not go off within the building on January 22nd, as well as the fact that are no fire alarms or sprinkler systems in the hallways or lobby. If it wasn’t for the heroics of residents and the NYFD, more lives could’ve been lost.

In our list of 12 demands to Maxx Properties, we stated that "the buildings are NOT FIRE SAFE". We demanded that Maxx Properties :
  • Immediately provide and install functional smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for all apartments.
  • Repair all doors that are not self-closing.
  • Repair the fire escape at 282 East 35th street that does not slide down.

To date, none of these demands have been met.

To support us in our current political struggle for repairs and better living conditions, please Sign & Share our community petition to hold Maxx Properties accountable for all the unsafe conditions we live under. Please continue to FLOOD Maxx Properties At [phone redacted] to demand that they IMMEDIATELY honor the 12 demands.

Thank you to the community for your support in this difficult time. Please give all that you can.

Thank-you
