Recovery Fund for Shawn Bilderback
Our Story: My husband is the love of my life and my best friend. We are newlyweds and not yet been married a year. In April we both got Covid. I healed and returned to work. My first day back to work, I came home to find my husband, Shawn, struggling to breathe and he could hardly talk. I rushed him to the Emergency Room, where they confirmed Covid-pneumonia. He was placed in a special quarantine room.
Soon after, he was intubated and placed in a medically induced coma. His condition continued to worsen and on May 3rd was transferred to Intermountain Medical Center in Murry, Utah, for specialized care. During the weeks and months to come, my husband was in the biggest fight for his life! He remained paralyzed and in a coma for 7 weeks. Doctors called me to his bedside several times, as they believed he was not going to make it through the night. But all the while, I had my amazing family and friends praying for my precious husband. God has done some amazing things! And my husband is still alive!
Fast forward to June 18th and we began the process to wake my husband; his last sedative was June 21st. My husband is now in IMC Rehab to regain what he has lost. My husband, Shawn, was in a coma for 7 weeks, and so far has been in the hospital 10 weeks and counting. He will continue to be in inpatient rehab for the next few weeks, then finally come home to me, where he will begin outpatient rehab. He has a long road in front of him to recover and eventually be able to return to work.
He is still dealing with complications from Covid, and he is still suffering with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), which affects his breathing as well as many other functions we all take for granted. There is so much unknown about Covid, especially for those who have survived what my husband has. By all medical terms, my husband should not be alive..but God is so good, and has given us a second chance at life and our marriage.
To be honest, we have not any idea what the cost of his treatment will ultimately be, but, we do know that when he comes home, his income will be drastically diminished. Those that know me well, are aware that I am used to doing everything on my own and have my entire adult life...but I am now at the point that we could use some help. So thank you in advance for your donations.
I want to thank each one of you for your prayers and thoughtful cards, phone calls and gifts over the last several months. We are both so grateful.
Thank you and God bless,
