In the early hours of the morning March 16, 2021 the Freeman family experienced the devastation of a house fire. Western Carteret units were dispatched and crews worked quickly to control the incident and preserve property. Everyone in the home escaped safely, suffering the loss of their home and two vehicles. Displacing a total of 7 residents.
This tragedy hits closer to home than just within district lines though. Shelby Freeman works with Broad & Gales Creek Fire, Carteret Hospital, and completed fire classes with Western Carteret Fire in 2020. 
Fire is family and we are reaching out to take care of one of our own.
