Recovery Fund for Blake and Jason

My older brother, Blake and younger brother, Jason shared a duplex in the Lincoln neighborhood of Vancouver, WA. On the morning of Friday, July 31st, while Blake was at work, Jason was woken up by the smell of smoke. When he went to his second-story deck to investigate, he found the side of the neighboring duplex engulfed with flames reaching as high as the gutters. By the time he turned back into his unit, his front door was entirely engulfed. Jason quickly grabbed one of two of Blake’s cats and threw it over the balcony to safety. Jason was able to jump from the balcony with only the clothes he was wearing (a pair of basketball shorts) before he helped the woman and dog down from their second story balcony next door. 

Hours later, a fire department chaplain led Blake and Jason into their home to salvage 5 things each and moments later, I watched them both walk out empty handed. 

I’m hoping to raise $10,000 dollars for each of them to help them get back on theirfeet and regain some normalcy. Jason is astudent at PSU and is studying for his real estate license and lost all of his text books and computer. Blake is most upset about losing awards, ribbons and medals he’d earned serving in the Washington National Guard and fighting wildfires each summer but also lost some instruments, firearms and computer. 

We’re all a little shaken up, but are comforted in knowing we have a strong community of family and friends around us to lean on. Please contribute what you can, be it a donation, a prayer or a signal boost!
