Help Joshua & Melanie

Donation protected
My son, Joshua and his wife Melanie, have been hit with a large amount of medical expenses this year.  In February, Melanie had surgery and three weeks later, Joshua was rushed to the emergency room, at Johns Hopkins hospital, for emergency spinal surgery. During his eight days in the hospital they did numerous tests, a CT scan, several MRIs, and a myelogram, all to determine that Joshua had a buildup of scar tissue, within his spinal cord, which was causing compression of his spine.  The scar tissue resulted from two previous surgeries for scoliosis and a spinal cyst, that he had as a teenager. The doctors told him that his present medical condition was so bad that if it wasn't taken care of immediately, he would have ended up paralyzed from the chest down.

Joshua is thirty-two years old and, in all other ways, in good health. He and his wife both have full time jobs and are productive and valued members of their community. Melanie is a registered nurse, working full time at a hospital in Baltimore county, and is currently in her last semester, working toward her master’s degree. Joshua works in logistics for a company that does fabrication contracting. He has health insurance, through his company, but he will have a lot of additional expenses that the insurance will not cover, that he will have to pay out of pocket. Along with that, he may have to be on disability for a number of weeks so his back can heal. For a young couple who are doing their best to be an active and positive part of society, they have been hit with a large financial burden.

My wife and I are doing what we can to assist them but we are asking for the compassion of others to financially give, in order to help ease the medical expenses that will not be covered by insurance.  Their desire is to start a family in the upcoming year, but the strain of the medical bills will be a hardship for them. Would you play a part in helping Melanie and Joshua with this financial burden? Any amount would be a blessing to them both and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for considering what you can do to help.
