Cordell is one of the kindest and most reliable people I have ever had the privilege of working with. I have personally hired him for multiple projects over the course of the last two years. I continue to work with Cordell because his work ethic is second to none. Cordell shows up to work every single day regardless of the fact that he has to ride his bike eight miles one way. I recently received a call from Cordell's supervisor asking if I had heard from him because Cordell had not reported to work that day. I instantly had a feeling that something was wrong because Cordell is not the type of person to miss work without telling anyone. I began reaching out to his friends and family members and nobody had heard from him. The next day Cordell's mother called me to let me know that she had located Cordell. He was in the ICU. Cordell had been hit by a car while he was biking to work. Cordell suffered two fractured vertebrae, a broken clavicle, and swelling in his brain. Cordell was kept in an induced coma until doctors were able to operate. The doctors were able to save Cordell's life but the road to recovery will be long and arduous. Cordell will need to wear a body brace for a minimum of 12 weeks while his broken neck heals and the doctors say that the brain trauma could take up to year to heal. Cordell is only in the earliest stage of recovery and is still not fully conscious. He faces a difficult battle ahead and it is still too early to tell if he will ever be able to return to the machine shop where he was valued as both an employee and as a loyal friend. Cordell also faces insurmountable financial hardships due to the costs he has already accrued and the debt that will build up while he recovers which is still undetermined. Cordell needs our help! Cordell is the kind of person who would give someone in need the shirt off his back. He is a friend to all who know him and if any of us were in his place he would be the first to volunteer his own time and money to help speed us to recovery. The costs associated with Cordell's medical bills are too great to calculate at the present moment. His family has already faced great hardship in seeing their loved one in a hospital bed fighting for his life. The least we can do is help ease their struggle on the financial side so that they may be there to help Cordell recover for as long as it takes to get him back on his feet. I have set the initial goal at $1,000 but it would be a blessing for Cordell and his family if we could double or triple that amount. Please give whatever you can, every little bit helps. If you know Cordell you know that he would be the first to do the same for you. For those of you who do not know Cordell, you can be assured that no cause is more worth while. Please join Cordell's fight for recovery. Thank you all so much!
