Recovery for Bernie

Donation protected
**UPDATE - JANUARY 27 @ 1AM EST ** Bernie goes into surgery Friday morning. It is a complex procedure that comes with risks in face of his condition. The bright side, however, is that he is stable enough to move forward with this surgery. He is opening his eyes occasionally and seems able to acknowledge family at his side. Please continue sending your prayers – they are being heard.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, contributed, and held Bernie and our family close in their thoughts as we've navigated the last several days. We will update you again soon.

On January 24th, our beloved Bernie Nagy underwent surgery for an infection in his small intestine. Numerous areas were removed, which triggered a series of severe reactions and discoveries, including fluid in his abdominal cavity, several gangrenous regions of the intestine, and heart arrhythmia. Bernie is now in critical care at Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, MD.

The next 48 - 72 hours are crucial in determining Bernie's future. If he stabilizes, he'll return to the OR to have temporary closures to his intestines, and follow up with a more permanent reworking of his intestinal tract. Even in the best-case scenario, the road to his recovery will be long, strenuous, and costly – and the number of unknowns and logistics are daunting. Bernie – and his beloved family who is at his side – need our help.

We are connecting Bernie's amazing community for support and assistance towards his recovery. We have created this fund and set a goal of $100K to aid in the costs of his surgeries, post-op care, and hospital stays. Your generosity will give him directly impact the imperative next steps for his recuperation.

We are praying for Bernie's speedy turnaround and recovery. Please help our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend in any way you can!

Thank you,

The Nagy Family
