Recovery & Loss of wages for Owen & Mother Elaina

Hi, my name is pilar and I am fundraising for my friend, Elaina and her son Owen.

September 24th started as a normal day. Our nightmare started September 25th. Owen woke up from a nap and wasn’t feeling right. He was experiencing a headache and felt dizzy. His girlfriend noticed the right side of his face was a little bit saggy and he was feeling numb, so she took him to the hospital to get checked for a stroke. The hospital checked his heart and sent him on his way. Two hours later he was experiencing a migraine and could hardly breathe and he was taken back to the hospital by ambulance. He was left in the hallway for 5 HOURS before they did anything for him. He went into the ICU the morning of September 26th with a temperature of 109°. On Saturday September 30th an MRI was finally done and they discovered he had a Pontine Stroke at the young age of 20. He also has a hole in his heart. Owen will need to be on a feeding tube and ventilator for the rest of his life with around the clock care. All funds will go towards Owens medical care and loss of wages for his mother Elaina, as she may need to be off of work six months or more during his initial recovery.

A Pontine stroke refers to a stroke within the pons, the largest component of the brainstem.
