Recovery due to Head on Collision

hii everyone! My name is Rosemary Smith! I’m 20 years old. I moved to Tacoma two years ago from the San Francisco area in California right after I graduated high school early.

Now I’m a tattoo artist with a private studio located in Tacoma. I love my job and on September 20th 2023, on my way to work, I unfortunately got into a really bad car crash. I don’t remember anything from the morning of the crash date so the following details regarding the crash were given to me.

Someone had hit me straight on with their truck.
I was trapped in my vehicle. With the help of the authorities, they managed to cut my car open and get me out. At the hospital, the staff had told me that my femur broke, my hip socket broke, and my right ankle has a bad fracture. I have also received various different injuries like cuts and bruises throughout my entire body.
When I first woke up in the ER I’ve noticed there was broken glass stuck underneath my top, super scary!!

I believe I’ve gone through 2-3 surgeries now and I have a splint set up on my ankle and one of the pins sticks out of my shin. I hate it!! I’m currently waiting for my next surgery date to get it removed, hopefully it’ll be soon! :D

After all of my injuries, unfortunately I cannot return to work anytime soon. It truly breaks my heart because I love my job as an anime tattoo artist. I decided to become a tattoo artist after watching a Q&A video of a female south Korean artist that I absolutely love. She mentions how there’s not a lot of women in the tattoo industry and talks about body positivity and creating a true safe environment. She truly inspired me so therefore, I decided to jump in. My tattoo journey was definitely rough in the beginning but once I got the hang of it, this one client really struck me with her words. After receiving the tattoo, she told me that she’s going to keep coming back because tattoos makes her feel better about herself and if my art just increases anyones self love/body positivity, I absolutely love that.

My studio isn’t like a typical tattoo shop that’s super intimidating. I love being able to create a warm welcoming space that’s bright and decked out with kawaii decorations with figurines/plushies everywhere! I want my clients to feel welcomed and safe during my sessions. I absolutely love our conversations especially when my client needs to rant about literally anything, I’m here for you guys!

But due to my crash, my world has been flipped, I’m unable to work for the next couple of months. It’s extremely frustrating, just a couple weeks ago I drove my beloved car I worked so hard to get last year, down to California to see my family/friends. I was just driving, walking, running, bending my knees perfectly, and now all of that has been taken away and I’m extremely sad/exhausted.

If some miracle happens and I can start working sooner, I’d be so happy. With everything going on and not being able to work, I can’t afford my upcoming bills like rent, new medical bills, insurance, utilities, groceries, and so much more.

If you guys can donate/share, that would mean everything to me!

Thank you to everyone! Especially those that have been following my journey via Instagram

I’m so grateful to have your support ❤️
