On Friday 10/11/19, Barry was struck by a vehicle. He was returning some flooring and 2 boxes fell out of his truck into the street. He pulled over to retrieve the boxes and was hit by a truck. He was taken from Statesville to the trauma hospital in Winston-Salem. He has extensive severe injuries from broken legs and vertebrae to a lacerated kidney and spleen and many, many more. He has already undergone 1 surgery to place rods in both legs due to multiple compound fractures. He is scheduled for a second surgery, Monday, to repair injuries to his hand, his broken pelvis, and his severely damaged right foot. He is currently in the ICU and will remain there for several days, if all goes well. He will have a long hospital stay ahead and an even longer rehabilitation to go through. Barry is the sole provider for his wife and 3 kids and works off of commission as a car salesman by day and some nights as a part time police officer. As of now we do know he will be bed ridden for some time and will then have to use the aid of a wheel chair until his legs and foot have healed. He will therefore be unable to work or provide for his family for many months and will also have a lot of medical bills. I wanted to set this up since so many have told us they would like to help out and contribute in some way. Barry is one of a kind and such a character. He never meets a stranger. He loves fiercely and would give anyone the shirt off his back. I know that if he were in this position, he would do anything he could to help out his family or friends. If you are unable to contribute monetarily, we would ask that you keep Barry, Casey, and the kids, as well as extended family, in your prayers.
