For more than two centuries, the Morada de Abiquiú has been a spiritual home--sheltering prayer, humility, service, and brotherhood. Maintained through devotion rather than wealth, the Morada stands as a rare and powerful reminder of Northern New Mexico's cultural and religious heritage.
Time, weather, and age have taken their toll. The roof, essential to protecting the Morada's interior, structure, and sacred objects, is now in critical need of replacement. Without intervention, this irreplaceable space risks further damage that could threaten its continued use.
The Re‑Covering History Project is a community‑led effort to replace the Morada's roof with care, respect, and integrity--honoring traditional values while ensuring long‑term preservation. The Hermanos continue their mission of spiritual guidance, prayer, and service, but they cannot do this work alone.
Your contribution helps:
• Preserve a historic and sacred building
• Protect cultural traditions passed down through generations
• Ensure the Morada remains a place of reflection and service
• Pass this heritage on to those who come after us
When you give, you are not just repairing a roof--you are covering history with care, dignity, and hope.
National Latino Behavioral Health Association we are deeply grateful for your commitment to preserving Northern New Mexico’s living traditions and for the care you brought to this project. Your partnership made a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate your generosity and professionalism.
