Recovering After Hurricane Florence

UPDATE: I have increased the amount of money we are raising to $5,000 for Sarah and Thaddeus as a result of FEMA denying their claim stating, "That because your home didn't float way, you aren't eligible for assistance." Today, their homeowners insurance has denied their claim due to not having flood insurance. However, when they purchased their homeowners insurance, the company assured them that they didn't need flood insurance because they aren't in a "flood zone." Please continue to share this fundraising campaign to assist Sarah and Thad get back on their feet. It's been a rough road for them and this is a hurdle that they will overcome but with your prayers and your thoughtful donations, it will alleviate some of the hardships.
Hi Everyone. I'm Sarah's mom Jo (from Mooresville, NC), and I made this gofundme page because so many of you asked "How can I help?"
Because of the threat of Hurricane Florence, Sarah and Thaddeus and their two fur babies Lashly and Mille, were forced to evacuate their apartment. After staying a week and a half in Mooresville with family, they attempted to return to their home in Wilmington. Although many roads were still closed, they found their way home, only to see that their apartment was flooded. At one point, during the storm, the water level in their apartment rose to almost a foot. Everything that they owned is a complete loss. A week and a half after the storm, their home is still flooding with water seeping through the floor. They were fortunate enough to find a new apartment but have nothing but a semi-dry mattress to sleep on. It was either that or sleep on the floor.
Both Sarah and Thaddeus work in Wilmington. Their jobs are put on hold due to the damage that Florence caused. They do not know when work will resume as their places of business are still closed.
With your thoughtful donation, Sarah and Thaddeus will be able to purchase the things that were lost in the storm such as: linens, box spring and mattress, bedding, clothing, shoes, jackets, toiletries, food, dog food, lamps, sofa and so many other necessities. It will also assist them in paying bills that would normally be paid with their income that they are not getting at the moment.
Please remember to keep Sarah and Thaddeus in your prayers. They are both facing so much frustration and sadness as well as, gratitude toward everyone that has donated and offered their help.
