Hi my name is Amanda and that's my sister on the left, and right there in the middle is our amazing mom. i have never done this before but recently my mother was admitted into the hospital. it started with severe abdominal pain, high fever and she said she needed to go to the ER. Thinking about finances my sister rushed her to the urgent care where she sat for over an hour waiting to be seen. upon being seen they told her there was nothing they could do for her so they sent her to the ER to rule out appendicitis. when arriving to the ER she was greeted by a waiting room full of people and that was at 5:45pm. They drew her blood for blood work and ordered a CT scan... she sat there in pain screaming every time she coughed/moved we had to hold her stomach while she was throwing up.. there was nobody doing anything.. i had to scream for her to get her any type of pain reliever or nausea medication she sat there till midnight like that.. she was in her first CT at 1 am and then was placed back into the waiting room of the ER to wait for her results.. she did not get a room until 7am the next morning... she was diagnosed with a perforated bowel and diverticulitis. Originally the tear in her bowel wasn't severe enough for them to do surgery but was given an antibiotic instead and was being kept for observation to make sure it didn't worsen. Well it did worsen and she had to go into emergency surgery.. and needed to stay for 7-10 days under watch. now it's been 14 and she is starting to feel better and walking on her own. she can get out off bed but is still moving slow, and she's still in there.. i know as she sits there all alone (because of covid we can't visit) she is thinking of the berdon of these large hospital bills and being out of work for 4-6 weeks recover. she's was on high doses of pain medication and has had more CT scans then i have ever seen along with all the blood work. on top of all this she will have to go back into surgery in a couple months and will have to go threw the healing process all over again... she's a single mother, breast cancer survivor, and a warrior. i can't do much for her right now but i can try to do this to ease her mind...
