Backpacker left unpaid - Help me recover $7K lost wages
Donation protected
Hey,
My name is Tommy, and I came to Australia from Israel with a working holiday visa.
I worked in a store called SCOUT House in Melbourne, in which my employer didn't pay me for 6 weeks of work, which adds up to $7000, claiming he is sorting my pay out with many excuses but he never did.
About a month ago, the company got liquified by a court order, and my employer said he can't pay me now.
The liquifying company told me they can't gurentee I'll get paid, and no time frame has been given to me.
My employer never told me that there are legal issues with the company, and asked me to continue working. I always agreed and tried my best to be there and serve the people of St Kilda.
I contacted Fairwork, but they said they can't help me because of the liquidation. I'm in an urgent need of money to pay for my living expenses and my flight ticket back home, and have no way to get help with any governmental scheme since I'm not a resident here.
I am not a person that usually reaches out for help, but unfortunately I've tried everything and got to a dead end. If you ever came to the store and I put a smile on your face, I would be so ever grateful for your donation.
