We really appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the community!
My name is Kate and am creating this on behalf of the Cedar Farmers Market. This past week we discovered that the locks on our storage container had been grinded open and everything of value stolen.
Items lost include (but are not limited to): Power box (used to power our food trucks and most of our food vendors), multiple heavy-duty outdoor power cords, dollies and big-wheeled carts (special 2022 grant purchase to assist with our outdoor lumpy field setup), heaters, fan, first aid kits, garbage bags, etc.
With this money, we will replace the items stolen. We will also move our container, install wifi for live feeds, install new cameras, upgrade locking mechanisms, and more. Any extra funds will be used for security purposes and to cover extra staff hours in rebuilding and improving our unfortunate situation, or for community purposes such as food for low-income community members.
We are a not-for-profit. We have one part-time employee who works during the week to do all matters of planning for the market and three lovely staff members on Sunday market days. We are always short-staffed and on a tight budget, but we pride ourselves on offering an incredible free event for everyone to enjoy. We support 100 small local family businesses every Sunday. We offer free live music and free food programs. We are a meeting place for the community to come together. We are a safe space where everyone is welcome and we really appreciate any support you can offer - even just a kind word!
Monday Update: We just found out that our insurance will not be covering these items.
