Recover from road accident

Hi everyone, my name is Carla. I had a bicycle accident a few days ago and had to undergo surgery. I was riding back home and the road was very busy, some cars wanted to overtake me, I got distracted and hit a car that was parked on the side of the road. One of my finger got smashed and almost lost it. Thankfully, the surgeon was able to save it and I’m incredibly grateful for that.

However, my recovery will take around four months, and I won’t be able to work during that time. This is where I could really use your support. While the insurance company covered part of the surgery, I still had to pay for the emergency department and the surgery excess. Unfortunately, my visa doesn’t allow me to receive government assistance, and my job position doesn’t provide paid leave.

On top of that, my insurance doesn’t cover the hand therapy I’ll need for the next four months. It also doesn’t cover the damage to the car I hit. Since the accident was technically my fault, I’ll be responsible for those repair costs. I haven’t been able to contact the car owner yet, but I know the side mirror and front light were damaged, possibly the whole front side as well.

I’ve created a @gofundme fundraiser in order to help me go through this. I'll have to fly back home for hand therapy as it will be too expensive to stay here.
