Recover From Medical Gaslighting Trauma

Who this will help

I’m Morgan. I’m a survivor of a horrific, multi year medical gaslighting saga. I hope to cover cost of living and medical expenses for the next few months, and to otherwise rebuild my savings as I finally begin my journey to recovery.

Sometime before 2018, a parasite caused a severe, multi year vitamin deficiency that was ignored by my doctors. Despite having labs showing low B12 as early as 2020, my doctors refused to listen or run appropriate tests, telling me to call a psychiatrist.

Eventually the illness/vitamin deficiency caused extreme behavior changes, anxiety, persecutory delusions (I believed my dad was murdering my mom and planning to come after me), seizures, dyslexia, and general cognition issues that prevented me from working, or doing much more than fighting tooth and nail to find adequate healthcare, treatment, and support.

My family and most of my friends watched what happened, called me crazy and dramatic, and refused to provide the help I’ve been pleading for over the last 3 years.

When I was openly angry (and experiencing rage blackouts from seizures that no one believed were happening), my remaining friends clutched their pearls, gasped, and walked away, blaming me for being angry and talking about how I’ve been treated.

I was forced to return to work from 5 months of medical leave in November 2022, before receiving an appropriate diagnosis or treatment. I was immediately laid off. I’ve been living off my savings and retirement funds over the past year while continuing to seek help, treatment, and support. Within the last few weeks, I've finally found doctors and a neurologist that believe me. They've finally provided a diagnosis and treatment plan, but now I’m almost out of money.

Funds will used to pay rent, feed myself, and continue covering the cost of unexpected medical bills and ER visits. Any extra will be used to rebuild my savings account.

Why I'm fundraising

A medical gaslighting experience almost killed me, caused me to lose my family and friends. I've been living off my savings and retirement fund for the last year while continuing to seek adequate healthcare. Now that I've found adequate healthcare, I'm now almost out of money.

The impact of your support

Funds will be used for cost of living (rent, medical bills, feeding myself and my cat) until I'm recovered enough to return to work, and any extra will be used to rebuild my savings.
