Restore Eric's Dream of Photography & Videography

Donation protected
When Eric and I got married, he told me that he knew what he was signing up for. He said he knew I would be on stage singing my heart out while he cheered me on behind the scenes. I had no idea how much he meant what he was saying. In the four years that we have been married, Eric has shown me his support in every way imaginable. Eric never thought he would find a way to create art alongside me; until recently, when he discovered that he has a passion and natural gift for photography and videography. But this evening, his dreams came crashing down when the camera that he had given up so much for fell to the floor.

Would you help me recover my husband's dream?

Eric has spent hours helping me re-write songs and figure out what I really want to say. He has worked hard to buy me a keyboard that would help me sing more on pitch. He has sat with me as I cry and tell him how scary it is to record my songs. All of this has led up to this year when I am finally ready to share my art with the world. But I needed photos and videos to go along with it. So Eric stepped in again. He sold his electric guitar and amp in order to buy a camera. He spent hours upon hours learning how to use it in order to better share the stories in the songs.

As Eric learned more, he began to tell me about how he felt he had finally found a way to be an artist too. A lightbulb came on in my mind. Eric's grandfather loved taking pictures and videos. We get to enjoy old family movies Grandpa Jon took from when Eric was tiny. But not just his grandpa. Eric's dad worked as a cameraman at Channel 11 in Houston, TX for 11 years before injuring his back and losing his ability to walk.

"Yes", I thought,  "Eric was born to do this. This is his art. This is his voice."

I have never been one to ask for money, especially for something like a camera, but as I listened to my husband grieve the loss of his camera, I knew I had to do something.

Last year, I was placed in a position where I was forced to leave my job. Eric, again, made space for me. He told me to take my time figuring out what I would want to do to help us financially and make ends meet. I spent 4 months without a job until finally being hired for a part-time position at a foster and adoption agency. If I could, I would buy Eric another camera in a heartbeat. But we simply cannot afford it and no longer have gear we can sell.

I know I must sound like such a spoiled wife. I won't deny that I am. My husband has shown me that love is real, and God loves me enough to give me a life partner who will sacrifice for me without expecting anything in return. I am beyond grateful.

So I am doing something that is almost as scary as sharing my songs with the world.  I am asking you for help. Please, help me give Eric back this dream of being an artist.

Eric was so excited not just about helping me with my songs, but about taking pictures of family and friends. He said he wanted to help people feel valuable by taking a beautiful picture of them. He has always wanted to make the world more beautiful. It would mean so much to me if you would help me make Eric's world more beautiful by helping him recover his camera. He doesn't know I have created this page, but I know that when he hears that people would value him enough to help, he will be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to read Eric's story. Thank you for giving Eric another chance to make the world more beautiful through his art. Thank you for helping us make this story one of hope and dreams restored.
