So here it is. I don't usually do stuff like this, but, I need help. Big time.
Yesterday, my external hard drive crashed. With no rhyme or reason, the computer stopped recognizing it. This hard drive contains all the footage for the upcoming season of The Vintage Voyageur. We are talking hundreds of minutes, spanning 8 vintage stores in 6 different cities, with footage and work dating all the way back to October.
I spent the afternoon running to Geek Squad at Best Buy and looking at Seagate's options (the company that makes the drive). Both basically wanted a ton of money up front and for me to ship the hard drive into the abyss with no real idea of when it would be returned to me or if the data could be recovered. Obviously, that was not an option for me.
After a bit of research, I found a company called Secure Data Recovery. They have 5 stars across the board on all review sites, are part of the Better Business Bureau and have helped multiple Fortune 500 companies recover data with a 97% success rate. I got on the phone right away with a man named Mitchell (God bless him) who took on my case and gave me all his info so I can have him on speed dial and know whats going on every step of the way. He has hope that he'll be able to recover all data and get it back to me by this time next week so I can stay on schedule with releasing Season 2.
Obviously, this is going to cost me, a lot. The estimate I have been given is $1516. I frankly, do not have that kind of money. Even though we are streaming on Amazon Prime, we don't see that Amazon money until we've reached a certain amount of views, and as we've only just begun streaming on Prime, we have not yet reached that goal. All ads and costs are paid out of my pocket at this moment, and I simply don't have this type of money set aside for unforseen costs such as this.
This is a mistake that I will surely NEVER EVER make again. From now on I'll back up my work at least three times. I've had other hard drives for over eight years full of photos, but for whatever reason, the one containing the most important material has to crash.
If you could help me out, in any amount, it would mean the world to me! As most of you know, The Vintage Voyageur is not just a web series to me, it is a project that combines every passion of mine into one. It has changed the person that I am and helped me create the life I want to live. Everyday, the project grows in popularity, and as it does more and more doors have opened to new opportunities and more and more people have been inspired to dress how they want and feel comfortable in their own skin. Season 2 is the next step to move this show and business forward and I cannot do this without your help.
