As many of you may be aware, we have been currently navigating a challenging time following the discovery of financial misconduct and fraud by a former long serving employee of The Enchanted Wood Day Nursery who was dismissed in September 2023. The detrimental effect this had on us as a Nursery was devastating, as you all know we are a charity run business which means we are a non profit. Reserve funds are stored to ensure the business remains financially stable so staff and bills can be paid smoothly. Unfortunately the ex employee stole a huge amount from the Nursery Bank account totalling over £209,000 in a three year period which included the full reserve fund leaving us on the verge of liquidation. This has been an extremely challenging time financially however we are finally beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel!

This ex employee was finally sentenced for her crimes on 01/04/2025 and the Nursery has recieved some justice. She has been given a custodial prison sentence of two and a half years. It has been an extremely stressful and time consuming 18 months, when I took over from Manager to also Nursery Director back in September 2023 I did not think it would of taken this long however I am glad the hard work and stress has finally paid off with the amazing DC McGarry supporting me and leading the case.

First and foremost, please know that The Enchanted Wood Day Nursery is now in a stable and secure position both financially and operationally. I want to emphasize that our focus has never wavered from providing the highest quality care and education for children. The nursery is fully staffed with happy, dedicated professionals, and we are more committed than ever to fostering a nurturing, secure, and joyful environment for all the children in our care.

I personally would like to say a thank you again to my amazing team, these 18 months has been extremely tough in which without their support and dedication to the Nursery this situation would of been so much more difficult. They are heart and soul of The Enchanted Wood Day Nursery and there are no words for how extremely grateful I am for each and every one of them! Another thank you to our other two Nursery Directors Garry and Anita who have been fantastic.

The future is finally looking bright for the Nursery and we have lots of exciting ideas of expanding and improving to benefit all the children and staff.

We are excited to now move forward and finally put this firmly behind us with a little extra support if you can to help us, this will go solely towards creating a brand new outdoor area for our children.
