Recording ECD Album: Dances of Jenna Simpson

Jenna Simpson has been devising original English Country Dances since around 2007; in the spring of 2017 she published her first book of choreography, “Under the Influence,” and she anticipates producing a second volume of newer works when we can all dance together again.

While a few of Simpson's dances have been included on various albums; most of them do not have dedicated, danceable recordings.  This fundraiser seeks to raise money to help cover the expenses of producing an album of around 15 tracks of danceable music for some of her more popular dances, both from “Under the Influence” and some more recent pieces.  (Do you have a particular favorite you'd really like to see on the album?  Let us know!)

The band for this album will be Naomi Morse, Paul Oorts, and Dave Wiesler.  Dave is also taking the lead in editing and mixing the tracks.  This is very much a project of the covid era: musicians are recording remotely and combining the sound in production.  They have already produced a sample track to make sure they're happy with both the process and the result, and they're ready to move forward.

Funds raised will help cover the expenses of the project, which include: musicians' fees, mixing/editing fees, professional mastering, and cd production.  Generous donors have provided seed money to get the project started; this is a push to get us over the top to make the project a reality.
