UPDATE November 2023: we have reached our goal thanks to all the donors and the fabulous gifts from BAX music in the Netherlands who provided the white recorders and a great discount and donated also harmonicas.
Once we pick up this project for other camps, I will open it for donations again.
In the meantime, my Yazidi@School project continues to need your donations. Over the Christmas holidays I will return to the Netherlands and return with suitcases filled again with materials for the school, for children activities, toothbrushes esp for children, money for all those taxirides into Duhok for meetings, paperwork, etc (and yes, even for cashews and almonds for children /people who come and meet me in the evenings for a bit of play or talk)

Recorders needed: Yazidi at IDP camps want music
One for $5!
Hello, I am Margaret Rijkelijkhuizen from the Netherlands /USA (born in 1946, yes, go ahead and count :-) and I have come to ID Camp Mam Rashan in Kurdistan where I am teaching the Yazidi survivors English, and also computer skills (next year: need laptops). I have promised to stay here at least one year, I need to get the pilot program stable and expandable - to other camps.
But this fundraiser is for hundreds!!!! of recorders - as in the photos. I brought some with me from the Netherlands and e v e r y b o d y here wants to learn to play. Marie-Jose, teacher of Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands, is joining me for two weeks in October and she is going to teach the flute: adults, youth, male, female. Just before she leaves we will have a small "concert": singing and flute playing!
For $5.- you can contribute to 1 flute. For $ 50 dollars you can help 10 Yazidi people in the tent camps.
Please help, Marie Jose can order them and bring them in her suitcase next month and we will get started the next day, at the latest!! :-)
