Reconstructive Surgery of Michael Kojo Boamah

Donation protected
In February 2017 a fatal car accident claimed the life of my Mother. Also in the car on that fateful day was my 2nd Cousin, 12 year-old Michael Kojo Boamah and his mother, Abena. Abena succumb to her injuries and died at the scene. Kojo, though lucky to survive, suffered horrific trauma including significant nasal bone fractures, traumatic telecanthus and one eye so damaged beyond repair that it had to be removed.

Surgical treatment of traumatic telecanthus remains one of the most challenging areas in facial reconstruction. Kojo’s initial surgical was performed so poorly that his face is prone to infections. Over the past 6-months my family has worked tirelessly with RESURGE AFRICA to seek appropriate medical care for Kojo and clinicians at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have offered to perform reconstructive surgery.

Kojo will need to undergo surgical refracturing, titanium plating and plastic surgery to correct his nasal bone fractures and traumatic telecanthus. This surgery, which will he’s third, is scheduled to occur on 21 August 2019 and is the only opportunity available to access this critical and life changing procedure.

The money raised will fund this much needed surgery and will help provide critical after surgery care.
