“DenkMal Nach” am 28.05.22
Hallo Liebe Freunde :)
wir sind das neu gegründete interdisziplinäre Kunstkollektiv ReCollect, bestehend aus Naemi (Tanz), Nosa (Visual Art) und Alicia (Lyrik). Über die ISD Stuttgart, haben wir im Herbst 2021 eine Anfrage für ein Dekolonialies Projekt, von der Leiterin für Erinnerungskultur vom Kulturamt Stuttgart erhalten, und zwar das Denkmal von Kaiser Wilhelm I. künstlerisch in einen Kontext zu bringen. Dafür brauchen wir jedoch mehr Geld als wir dachten und bekommen haben.
In unserem ersten Projekt namens "DenkMal Nach" widmen wir uns der 18 m hohen Statue von Kaiser Wilhelm I. (1797 - 1888), der ein Wegbereiter des deutschen Kolonialismus ist und dessen Statue bis heute unkommentiert auf dem Karlsplatz im Herzen Stuttgarts thront.
Die Ausbeutung von Menschen und Land, die Plünderung von Bodenschätzen und Relikten, die Entmenschlichung und Zurschaustellung von Männern, Frauen und Kindern in Menschenzoos sind Aspekte, die thematisiert und aufgearbeitet werden müssen.
→ Wir können und wollen die Statue nicht einfach wortlos dort stehen lassen!
→ Man muss sich nur vorstellen, die letzte Völkerschau fand 1928 in Stuttgart statt und ist keine 100 Jahre her…
Mit einem unglaublichen Team haben wir die Kunstinstallation “DenkMAl Nach”, ins Leben gerufen, die aus der Verhüllung der Statue, einer Aufführung von Tanz, Musik und Spoken Word, vergessene Kontexte mit einbezieht und anspricht. Wir laden alle Interessierten dazu ein sich gemeinsam mit uns zu erinnern und eine Veränderung anzustoßen und BIPOC excellence zu feiern.
Daher fragen wir uns:
- Wie können WIR/SIE (alle!) heute gemeinsam die Verantwortung übernehmen?
- Wie können wir denen Gehör verschaffen, die nicht gehört wurden?
- Wie können unterdrückte Erfahrungen greifbar gemacht werden, verarbeitet und wieder ins positive gebracht werden ?
- Wie können wir die Vergangenheit realitätsnah anpacken, um die Weichen für die Zukunft zu stellen ?
Um dieses Projekt (Kunstinstallation und Performance) wie folgende (Projekt. Nr. 2 Deokoniales Festival im August 2022) so gut wie nur geht umzusetzen fehlen weitere finanziellen Mittel.
Wir möchten mit dem gespendeten Geld,
- alle teilnehmenden Künstler*innen fair bezahlen
- das Projekt visuell dokumentieren
- Web page gestallten/ Social Media managing / Partner*innen finden
- Bessere Locations finden
- ein Studio zum vorplanen und umsetzen mieten
- Transportkosten aller beteiligten übernehmen/ Transporter mieten
- BIPOC Community Kartei + Künstlern zusammen stellen - veröffentlichen zum vernetzen
- Special Acts organisieren
- mehr Projekte deutschlandweit planen
- Zwischenprodukte wie Community treffen, a la each one teach one organisieren

– remembering und educating with art

Hello dear friends :)
we are the newly founded interdisciplinary art collective ReCollect, consisting of Naemi (dance), Nosa (visual art) and Alicia (poetry). In autumn we received a inquiry through ISD Stuttgart for a project about decolonialisation from the head of remembrance culture of the Stuttgart Cultural Office. We were asked to put the Monument of Kaiser Wilhelm I. in context using our community, knowledge, art and craft. To realize this first and following projects we definitely need more money that we thought and that we got already.
In our first project "DenkMal Nach", we focus on the 18 m high statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I (1797 - 1888), who paved the way for German colonialism and whose statue still sits without comment enthroned on the Karlsplatz in the heart of Stuttgart.
The exploitation of people and land, the plundering of natural resources and relics, the dehumanization and display of men, women and children in human zoos are therefore aspects that need to be addressed and dealt with.
→ We cannot and will not accept the statue standing there without questioning its meaning!
→ We have to imagine, realize, see, that the last planned Humanzoo 1928 in Stuttgart, was not even 100 years ago...
With this incredible team, we created the art installation “DenkMAl Nach”, which includes and addresses forgotten contexts through the veiling of the statue, a performance of dance, music and spoken word. We invite everyone who is interested to join us in remembering and making a change while celebrating our excellence.
Therefore we ask ourselves:
- How can WE/THEY (all!) take responsibility today?
- How can we give a voice to those who have not been heard?
- How can we make suppressed experiences tangible, and use them as fuel for our day to day rise?
- How can we tackle the past in order to set the course for the future?

Nevertheless, we would need more financial resources to implement this and the following projects (Next coming up August 2022) as best as possible.
The funded money would be used for,
- good payment of all participating artists
- having the project visually documented -
- managing our social media/ Webpage
- managing third-party funds - Manager
- renting a studio to develop pre work for this and the projects
- covering transport costs of artists etc.
- covering van costs for other transportations -
- creating a list of BPOCs to connect + artist list
- booking of special guests
- creating more and bigger projects like this
- creating a community in various cities by starting community meetups
- ...lets root for more...
