The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise funds for my grandmother, Fanny Fernández.

My grandmother had hernia surgery in February. Everything went very well, but a few days into her recovery, complications arose.

She developed two blood clots—one traveled to her lungs and the other to her brain, which caused three strokes, one of them severe.

As a result, she was hospitalized in the ICU for three and a half weeks, fighting for her life. While doctors were monitoring her blood clotting to prevent new clots, she began to experience internal bleeding, and the treatment had to be stopped.

Being bedridden for so many days weakened her muscles, and she now requires extensive therapy, which she is currently receiving through a government program.

However, since all of her family members work during the day from Monday to Friday, it has become very difficult to care for her, as she depends on us for everything (eating, going to the bathroom, walking). Because of this, we need to hire someone to assist with her care while we are at work.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover these caregiving services, so for now, we must cover the costs ourselves, but we believe this fundraiser is a good way to help cover part of the expenses for hiring someone to assist in her daily care.

Hola. Soy Daniela (la nieta de Fanny) y el motivo de esta colecta es recolectar fondos para mi abuelita Fanny Fernández.

Mi abuela tuvo una cirugía de hernias en el mes de Febrero. Todo salió muy bien pero a los días de recuperación se complico todo.

Tuvo 2 coágulos de sangre, uno bajó a su pulmón y el otro subió al cerebro lo cual le causó 3 ACVs. Uno de ellos de gran tamaño.

El resultado la llevo a estar hospitalizada en la UCI por 3 semanas y medias al borde de la muerte. Vigilando su coagulación para prevenir nuevos coágulos, se comenzó a desangrar por dentro y tuvimos que parar el tratamiento.

El hecho de haber estado tantos días en cama le debilitó sus músculos y hoy en día tiene que hacer mucha terapia la cual está recibiendo gracias a un plan de gobierno.

Sin embargo, porque todas sus familiares trabajamos durante el dia de lunes a viernes, se nos hace difícil el cuidado de ella ya que depende de nosotras para absolutamente todo (comer, ir al baño, caminar) y es por eso que debemos acudir a contratar servicios que la cuiden mientras trabajamos.

Lamentablemente, el seguro no nos cubre su cuidado y por ahora tenemos que cubrir los gastos nosotros. Hemos hecho rifas (y seguiremos haciendo) pero también creemos que esta sea una buena opción para tener fondos que puedan cubrir parte de sus gastos en cuanto al contrato de una persona que nos asista!
