My name is Mohammed Aboukheir, son of Sami Aboukheir. I am reaching out and hoping that some can find it in them to help my father and my family with my fathers medical bills, treatments, and recovery supplies. In May, 2016, my father suffered a spinal cord injury in relation to a spinal stroke and has been robbed of all mobility and sensation in his legs. He is now paraplegic with his injury located in the T8-T11 therosiac section if his back. The result of the spinal stroke caused a lack of blood supply in his spine, resulting in an increasingly complicated medical situation compounded by his preexisting medical conditions such as diabetes. Life as a paraplegic has been tough emotionally, financially, and mentally and has demanded major adjustments to our lives, family, and everyone around him. My father is one of the kindest, most generous men I have ever met and a true role model. He has worked his entire life to keep us out of bad neighborhoods and provide a life for us that he only dreamed about as a child. However, we have stuggled financially, and have faced the brunt of economic hardships. Now with the onset of paraplegia, our family funds have become exhausted, and we have delved into the worst situation we have been in. We have learned how much we take mobility and the ability to walk for granted. The cost of these medical bills, supplies, home changes, and nurses compounded with the preexisting expenses we already struggled with has affected my family more than one could imagine. I am a college student at DePaul University, paying my entire college experience entirely on my own while assisting my mother with our expenses. My Mother works a retail job in the mall and before the accident, my father was on the cusp of an amazing job opportunity before fate has struck and he was robbed of all opportunity and mobility. We thought our problems were solved, but instead we find ourselves faced with our biggest struggle we have ever faced. In our darkest time we humbly and appreciatively ask for your help, support, and contribution to help us in any way. Any assistance is appreciated more than you would ever assume. We are now tasked with paying for his medical bills, 2 more surgeries, a bed lift, ramps, a handicap van, stem cell treatment, medical supplies, as well as thousands of dollars worth of medical expenses. I thank you sincerely for your kindness and generosity in this toughest of times that my family and I face. God bless you all.
