Hello, my name is Jose Alfredo. It all started with a diagnosis of a hiatal hernia. I began having symptoms of a very persistent cough that would cause me to lose consciousness, but I did not think it was a serious illness. Then one day I had a seizure, I lost consciousness for a longer time, and I had to go to the hospital.

There, they immediately ran tests. I was already in very bad shape, and they admitted me to intensive care. I thought, “I think I’m in very serious condition.” A few days later, the diagnosis came back: I had a tumor in my left lung, and even worse, it had metastasized to my brain. Once the diagnosis was confirmed, they immediately started radiation therapy on my brain. Yesterday, Thursday, March 19, I completed my 10 sessions, and now I am only waiting to find out what kind of chemotherapy the oncologist will recommend for my lung.

I am staying very positive thanks to the incredible support of my family and friends. This fundraiser is to help cover insurance deductibles and many expenses that my insurance did not approve. From the bottom of my heart, I ask for and gratefully receive all your blessings and any financial support you may be able to give. I work for a wonderful company that has shown me so much empathy and care. I hope to return soon, because they are also my family.

I have been given a very challenging mountain to climb, one of those that tests you with every step. It is not an easy road. Sometimes the air feels thin, and the ground becomes heavy, but I keep moving forward, step by step, with my eyes fixed on the summit.

This cancer in my lung and brain is part of that difficult climb, but it is not impossible. There are cloudy days, and others when I can barely see the path, but there is also strength, science, faith, and people walking beside me.

I do not know how long this climb will last, but I do know that I will not give up. Every step matters, every breath is a victory, and I am going to climb this mountain with everything I am.

Hola me llamo Jose Alfredo, todo empezó por un diagnóstico de una hernia en el esófago, empecé a tener síntomas de una tos muy continua que me llevaba a perder la conciencia pero no pensé que fuera una enfermedad grave. Hasta que un día tuve una convulsión, perdí el conocimiento por más tiempo y tuve que ir al hospital. Ahí de inmediato me hicieron estudios, yo ya iba muy mal, me pusieron en terapia intensiva, y pensé, creo que estoy muy grave. A los días salió el diagnóstico de que en mi pulmón izquierdo tenía un tumor y lo peor me hizo metástasis en el cerebro. Ya confirmado el diagnóstico de inmediato empezaron las radioterapias en el cerebro. Ayer Jueves 19 de marzo terminé mis 10 sesiones y solo espero que clase de quimioterapia me dara el oncólogo para el pulmón. Estoy muy positivo con el gran apoyo de mi familia y amigos. Esta recaudación es para cubrir deducibles de seguro y muchos gastos que no autorizó la aseguranza. Deseo y recibo de todo corazón todas sus bendiciones y el apoyo económico que me puedan brindar. Yo estoy en una gran empresa que me han mostrado toda su empatía y cariño, espero regresar pronto, porque también es mi familia.

Me tocó una montaña muy retadora de subir, de esas que te ponen a prueba en cada paso. No es un camino fácil, el aire a veces falta y el terreno se vuelve pesado, pero sigo avanzando, paso a paso, con la mirada puesta en la cima.

Este cáncer en el pulmón y en el cerebro es parte de ese ascenso difícil, pero no imposible. Hay días nublados y otros donde apenas se ve el camino, pero también hay fuerza, ciencia, fe y personas que caminan conmigo.

No sé cuánto dure la subida, pero sí sé que no me voy a rendir. Cada paso cuenta, cada respiro es una victoria, y esta montaña la voy a escalar con todo lo que soy.
