Hola a todos, me llamo Benjamín Pérez Jr., y soy el sobreviviente de una hermosa madre, una esposa increíble, una hermana inseparable y mi mejor amiga, Marta Pérez.

Marta era una mujer a quien todos conocían como amable, compasiva, cálida, cariñosa, positiva... Podría describir con palabras interminables lo increíble que era mi madre. A Marta le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos, haciendo cosas como karaoke, ver películas, jugar a las cartas o ¡a la lotería!

La batalla de Marta contra el cáncer comenzó aproximadamente en 2006, cuando le diagnosticaron melanoma en un ojo. Desafortunadamente, este tumor era maligno, lo que le provocó la pérdida de uno de sus ojos. Tuvo un largo período de vida feliz sin cáncer hasta 2022, cuando le redescubrieron el tumor en la vesícula biliar. Desde entonces, ha estado entrando y saliendo del hospital, sin mostrar debilidad alguna, recibiendo cada noticia con valentía, incluso cuando se enfrentaba a noticias que nadie quiere oír. Entre 2022 y 2024, recibió numerosas sesiones de quimioterapia, radioterapia y otras citas regulares. Finalmente, a finales de septiembre de 2024, recibimos la noticia que todos sabíamos que llegaría, pero que nunca quisimos escuchar: 18 meses. Dieciocho meses fue el plazo que le dieron tras su reciente diagnóstico de colangiocarcinoma. Durante este tiempo, asistió a varias citas para más sesiones de quimioterapia y, finalmente, a infusiones, a medida que su salud comenzaba a deteriorarse.

Marta finalmente fue enviada a casa para pasar sus últimos días a principios de marzo de 2025, donde falleció en paz rodeada de sus seres queridos el 21 de marzo de 2025. Deja atrás a su esposo, sus padres, su hermana y sus tres hijos. Que descanse en paz eterna.

Hello everyone, my name is Benjamin Perez Jr, I'm the survivor of a beautiful mother, an amazing wife, an inseparable sister, and my best friend, Marta Perez.

Marta was a woman who everyone knew as kind, compassionate, warm, loving, positive... I could go on and on with the amount of words that could describe how amazing my mother was. Marta loved spending time with family and friends doing things such as karaoke, watching movies, playing cards or Loteria!

Marta's battle with cancer started in roughly 2006 when she was diagnosed with melanoma in one of her eyes. Unfortunately this tumour was malignant, resulting in the loss of one of her eyes. There was a long period of happy cancer-free living until 2022, when it was re-discovered in her gallbladder. Since then, she had been in and out of the hospital, never showing weakness, taking every bit of news with a brave face, even when faced with the news no one ever wants to hear. Between 2022 and 2024, she went through many chemo sessions, radiation therapy, and other ongoing appointments. Finally in late September of 2024 we received the news we all knew was coming, but never wanted to hear, 18 months. Eighteen months was the time frame she was given after being diagnosed most recently with cholangiocarcinoma. Throughout this time, she went to various more appointments for more chemo sessions, and eventually, infusion appointments as her health started to decline.

Marta eventually was sent home to spend her final days in early March of 2025, where she was able to eventually pass away peacefully surrounded by numerous loved ones on March 21st, 2025. She leaves behind her husband, her parents, her sister, and 3 children. May she rest in eternal peace.
