LOGLINE: In their senior year of college, 6 best friends wake up in the woods with no memory of the last three days, only to discover that one of the friends is dead—and the remaining 5 friends are suspects.

RECALL 1999 is a pilot/proof-of-concept for a TV series. This story centers on a group of 6 college seniors, Avery, Cameron, Dakota, Rikki, Parker, and Cruise, who have been best friends since high school, while under the investigation of two detectives, Kimitrea Johnson and Ashton Rivers. Through the lens of a sci-fi mysterious crime drama, this 1-hour format series explores the themes of friendship, family, grief, racism, identity, social justice, xenophobia, and memory—all while interrogating the status quo of the U.S. criminal justice system.

RECALL 1999 is grounded in diversity, driven by characters of color and multi-faceted women, featuring a friend group of Black, Latinx, Asian, and mixed-race identities and two female detectives.

This focus on centering voices of color expands beyond the camera as well, with our departments and teams being filled primarily by underrepresented identities in film & TV.

ABOUT THE CREATOR: Victor Ragsdale, a member of the Stanford Alumni and a Texas native, proudly represents Chocolate Cardinal in film, TV, and entertainment. A Theater and Performance Studies (TAPS) major and Music minor, he thrives in the world of performance while honing a skillset that crafts gut-wrenching screenwriting, direction, production, and production design through his production company, CFA Film Productions. When not producing his own projects, Victor works as a production coordinator and project manager, excelling in both the creative forces and logistical needs of entertainment productions. Living as a Black man in the United States of America raised in the South, Victor brings an authenticity and freshness to the examination of memory and criminal justice.

THE SUPPORT BEGINS...
While CFA Film Productions has been producing and developing the pilot, our support system has and continues to grow beyond ourselves. The support of this story begins with the help of the Executive Producer for a production company here in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have extended support in providing access to studios, equipment, personnel, as well as coverage for the post-production phase of our pilot---all while continuing to generate media consumed by millions of viewers.

Additionally, Musicade has partnered with us as our music sponsor, supervising the music production and scoring of our project through facilitating our collaboration with Grammy Award-Winning Producer Lamar “LAX” Alexander of the duo, moDULA.

And every contribution has a big impact on our production, no matter the size. In fact, every contribution has been doubled by a private investor who will match the first $5,000 in contributions. So when we raise $5,000 or more, we’ll receive an ADDITIONAL $5,000 in support for RECALL 1999.
