I hope this message finds you well.

My name is Lotfi Barbakh, and I am a 19-year-old resident of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. I want to share the heartbreaking reality my family and I are facing after our lives were shattered by the devastating war that began on October 7, 2023. Once, we lived a peaceful and joyful life, filled with dreams and aspirations.

My family of eleven, including my sister and her precious baby, Faten, and my oldest brother with his wife and baby girl, Areej, knew love and laughter. But that all changed in an instant. The horrors of this war brought fear, violence, and unimaginable loss. Faten's father was tragically shot dead by the IDF in February 2024 when she was just 1½ years old, leaving a void that can never be filled.

Now, we find ourselves living in a makeshift tent constructed of wood and nylon, which offers no protection from the harsh elements. With each rain, our living space floods, and we are left wet, cold, and vulnerable. The home we shared all together, once a sanctuary filled with warmth and memories, has been reduced to rubble—completely destroyed, leaving us with nothing but heartbreak and despair. The pain of losing our home is only compounded by the reality that we currently have no source of income.

We are struggling to survive amidst starvation and the ongoing siege. Every day is a battle for hope and dignity, as we long for the comforts of a home that no longer exists.

I reach out to you with a heavy heart, asking for your compassion and generosity. My mother's heart is shattered, and I am desperate to restore her hope and happiness.

اسمي لطفي بربخ، وأنا شاب أبلغ من العمر 19 عامًا من سكان خان يونس في قطاع غزة. أريد أن أشارككم الواقع المفجع الذي أواجهه أنا وعائلتي بعد أن حطمت حياتنا بسبب الحرب المدمرة التي بدأت في 7 أكتوبر 2023. في السابق، كنا نعيش حياة هادئة ومبهجة مليئة بالأحلام والطموحات.

عرفت عائلتي المكونة من أحد عشر فردًا، بما في ذلك أختي وطفلتها الغالية فاتن، وأخي الأكبر مع زوجته وطفلته أريج، الحب والضحك. لكن كل ذلك تغير في لحظة. جلبت أهوال هذه الحرب الخوف والعنف والخسارة التي لا يمكن تصورها. قُتل والد فاتن بشكل مأساوي على يد جيش الدفاع الإسرائيلي في فبراير 2024 عندما كان عمرها سنة ونصف فقط، تاركًا فراغًا لا يمكن ملؤه أبدًا. 

والآن، نجد أنفسنا نعيش في خيمة مؤقتة مصنوعة من الخشب والنايلون لا توفر لنا أي حماية من العوامل الجوية القاسية. مع كل مطر، تفيض مساحة معيشتنا، ونترك أنفسنا مبللين وباردين وضعفاء. لقد تحوّل المنزل الذي تشاركنا فيه معًا، والذي كان يومًا ما ملاذًا مليئًا بالدفء والذكريات، إلى أنقاض - دُمّر بالكامل، ولم يبقَ لنا سوى الحسرة واليأس. ومما يضاعف من ألم فقدان منزلنا حقيقة أننا لا نملك حاليًا أي مصدر للدخل.

نحن نكافح من أجل البقاء على قيد الحياة وسط المجاعة والحصار المستمر. كل يوم هو معركة من أجل الأمل والكرامة، حيث نتوق إلى وسائل الراحة في وطن لم يعد موجودًا.

أتوجّه إليكم بقلبٍ مثقلٍ بالهموم طالبًا تعاطفكم وكرمكم. قلب أمي محطم، وأنا في أمس الحاجة لاستعادة أملها وسعادتها.

أطلب بكل تواضع دعمكم لمساعدتنا في إعادة بناء منزلنا - مكان يمكننا أن نشعر فيه بالأمان والطمأنينة مرة أخرى.
