Rebuild Paradise for Granneman's
Donation protected
The fast-moving Camp Fire in Northern California has killed at least 76, injured numerous others, burned over 110 square miles, and has “destroyed this town” of Paradise, population 26,218, according to a spokesperson at CalFire.
Someone who has lost their home in Paradise to this devastation is my lovely friend Rachel Granneman and her family. They had to quickly evacuate through thick smoke, ash, charred bark and falling branches, and among flames along the roadside in some areas. Thankfully they made it. Unfortunately, their home, property, and precious possessions did not.
I have known Rachel since her beautiful girl Sarah and my daughter Miranda were babies, and we both belonged to the Long Beach Little Ones mom’s group. Rachel is a creative, fun-loving, kind mom, and her family moved to Paradise five years ago to enjoy the beauty of one incredible forest and to build with their bare hands a home and life for themselves in Butte County, her as a PR and marketing specialist at Butte College, and her husband Michael as a field supervisor for AT&T. Her daughter has grown to be a true multi-hyphenate – a pianist, artist, dancer, even a flag football player!
Her and her family’s strength during this horrifically challenging time is something to be inspired by. Her Facebook motto says it all: “Thankful for new beginnings over and over again. Life is too short to be unhappy!” Certainly, this philosophy will be tested over and over again over the next several months and year as they deal with the major and mundane activities of rebuilding after such devastation. This GoFundMe serves to somewhat ease the stress of immediate expenditures while they figure out what to do next.
No donation is too small, as well as your kind words of encouragement. Please share. Thank you for your consideration.
