Dear friends,
Thank you for taking the time to read and donate in this incredibly difficult moment for our country. As most of you know there was a powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico that has brought down many buildings and homes– leaving thousands of people without belongings, a place to sleep, food, water, or medical attention– and killing over 217 people and counting. Two weeks earlier, the largest earthquake in a century hit Mexico killing at least 90 people in the south and also causing severe damage.
Who are we? If you are on this page there is a good chance you know us. We are a bi-cultural family with both Mexican and American blood. Half of our family is based in Mexico City and Puebla (affected areas) and half is based in the USA. We are harnessing our ability to raise money in the USA and send it back to Mexico– given the fact that the dollar goes a long way in Mexico in today's economy.
Why donate HERE? We know many people want to help, especially our family and friends, and are not sure which charities to trust their money with– which is why we are arranging this direct fund. Our family based in Mexico will receive the money and use 100% of it to aid victims, by bringing them materials/food/provisions they need.
What will your money buy? We will be constantly looking into exactly what it is that support units need from us. At the moment there seems to be a surplus of food and water and not enough medical supplies and digging equipment, as volunteers are still digging their way through collapsed buildings in hopes of rescuing people trapped underneath. Some of the things we will be purchasing are: - Flashlights - Batteries - Gauze - Alcohol -Buckets -Rope -Scissors -Shovels & picks -Powdered milk -Canned goods -Underwear - Sanitary products -Antibacterial wipes
Where will the money go? It will be directly deposited to me and I will send it to my family in Mexico; we will then divise a plan on how to best use the resources we have to aid the communities in need. There has been much news coverage; the videos and images truly heartbreaking. However, most of it has focused on Mexico City and there are areas of the country with terrible damage, destruction, and loss that are not receiving sufficient aid. We’d like to focus our help on the state of Puebla and Morelos, two of the most affected regions. An area called Mixteca Poblana is by far one of the poorest places in Mexico and one of the most damaged by yesterday's events– however, photos of that area haven't even surfaced because they are receiving so little attention in terms of medical and financial aid.
You can help even if you aren’t in Mexico. By donating to this campaign you will allow us to bring much-needed materials directly to the victims of the affected sites.
Your dollars are worth almost double in Mexico, so something as small as $15 has a big impact. Thank you so much for your messages of love and support. It is much needed in these difficult times.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask us! We will be keeping a record and taking pictures of the delivery of goods– and we will keep you posted on the progress of this campaign! Please share amongst your community, and we can hopefully create a chain of love and support for our wonderful Mexico that's in enormous distress and sadness. We appreciate each and every dollar you might be able to donate to our cause.
With love
