Banner Elk Elementary School and Avery County has been forever changed by Hurricane Helene. The community is rallying behind each other and providing support where they can.

Families are going without, and basic needs are not being met. However, the “mountain way” is to never ask for help. BUT help is needed, and extends well beyond what the direct community can support.

So, in the spirit of Banner Elk Elementary School (aka BES) and the wonderful Principal Carver and entire staff, we are asking for help. Help to rebuild infrastructure, support those staff members and families who have lost their homes and livelihoods, and the children who will forever remember September 27, 2024.

Funds will go towards fulfilling those basic needs, rebuilding infrastructure, and supporting the physical, emotional, and financial needs of staff and children for when they eventually return to school.
