Help Our Family of 8 Recover After a House Fire
On December 5th, our home experienced a chimney fire that had likely been burning silently through the night. We woke up to smoke in the house — something we knew should never be there — and immediately called the fire department. They were able to stop the fire, but because it was inside the wall, they had to open the wall to put it out safely.
We are a family of eight, plus our two dogs, and right now we don’t know the full extent of the damage or how long we will be displaced. What we do know is that we are grateful — beyond words — that everyone made it out safely. Our belongings can be replaced. Our family cannot.
We do have homeowners insurance, but this situation comes with many unexpected costs — missed work, temporary living arrangements for a large family, food, transportation, and all the things you don’t think about until they’re suddenly gone or inaccessible. We’re still unsure of everything we will need, but so many people have asked how to help, and this is the best way we know right now.
If you feel led to donate, your support will help carry us through the immediate uncertainty while we figure out what’s next for our home and our family.
Thank you for your generosity, your kindness, and for keeping us in your thoughts.
We are grateful to still have each other.
Thank You
The Smith Family
