My name is Makenna, and I’m reaching out for help after my family—my mom, my dad, my sister, and I—lost our home and everything we own in a devastating flood. Just a year ago, we went through this same nightmare, and we poured our hearts, souls, and savings into rebuilding our house after the last Fourth of July flood. This year, almost to the day, it happened again. While we were away at camp, making sure our campers and counselors were safe, our home was completely flooded. We weren’t there to save anything, but thankfully, my aunt and uncle woke up in time to rescue our three dogs, carrying them through three feet of water to safety.

It’s hard to put into words how overwhelming it is to lose everything twice. We came home to find all our clothes, shoes, toiletries, bedding, furniture, and every essential gone. The house that raised me and held all our memories is now empty, and we’re left starting over from scratch. We desperately need help to get back on our feet and return to the home that means so much to us.
