Rebuilding - The O’Neil Journey

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt purpose, as we come together as a community to support one of our own beautiful families who has endured tremendous loss over the past 2 years.

Peta O’Neil, a cherished member of our local community tragically lost her husband and the loving father of their three young children, Evan, to brain cancer on 19th June 2023. Evan was just 39 years old. His passing has left an indelible mark on Peta and their children—Andy, age 10; Charlie, age 8; and adorable Josie, only 4. Each day since Evan’s passing has been a challenge for this incredible family.

Peta is the epitome of strength, kindness, and grace. Despite her own heartache, she continues to uplift those around her without ever asking for help herself. Evan’s dream was to turn their house into a home filled with love and memories—a dream that was cut short by his sudden illness, which allowed him only ten months after diagnosis to spend with his family.

This year marks the third anniversary of his passing, a time when we all feel the void left by Evan’s absence. In light of this, a group of Peta’s friends have come together with a desire to ease some of their burdens and improve their living situation. Peta’s home is in dire need of repairs, especially in the bathrooms where tiles are falling off the walls. With three young children at home—one still needing care three days a week—it has become increasingly impossible for Peta to afford necessary repairs or upgrades.

We are reaching out to our amazing community for assistance in this endeavour.

To kick off our efforts, we are starting on the bathrooms, kid’s bedrooms and then moving onto the kitchen area and flooring.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in Peta’s life and show her that she is not alone in her journey.
