Rebuilding Scotty’s Room After the Fire

Donation protected
On the night of January 2nd around 10:30 PM, we came home to find several fire trucks outside our apartment building downtown Mobile. We learned that a fire had broken out after an upstairs neighbor accidentally fell asleep while smoking a cigarette.

We are incredibly thankful that we were not home at the time and that everyone is safe.

However, our hearts are heavy because my son Scotty, lost majority of his bedroom. His room was the most heavily impacted by the fire, smoke, and water damage, and the majority of his belongings left in the home had to be trashed.

Scotty is only six years old and doesn’t fully understand why his toys were taken from him. Many of his favorite toys had to be thrown away, including a beloved train table that he played with every single day. His clothes, bedding, and school uniforms for Little Flower Catholic School were also lost.

I was very fortunate to recover most of my belongings, but Scotty was not as lucky, as the damage was concentrated in his room. Right now, we are trying to rebuild his space by repurchasing his school uniforms, everyday clothes, bedding, and a few special toys to help him feel like himself again.

Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, would mean more than words can express. Thank you for helping us bring comfort, stability, and a sense of home back to our sweet boy during this difficult time.
