Rebuilding Sarah Snyder's Home After The Fire.
Donation protected
Sarah and her family are safe. That's the good news, but it was a long, cold wet night.
Around 1:30 am, my sister Sarah's neighbor's garage caught on fire igniting the privacy fence between the houses and igniting my sister's house. Sarah, her wife, and their 4 cats were all inside sleeping. Fortunately, their son Jay was away for the weekend.
The bad news is that there is a ton of damage to their house and property, both from the fire as well as from smoke and water damage. Sarah and her family were able to get out, but are still assessing what personal and meaningful items are unsalvagable. Immediately, Sarah contacted her insurance company, to get the process started, but was warned that the process can take a while to provide resources. It was at this point we realized that we need help from our community.
For the near future, Sarah and her family will be living in a motel as close as they could find to their small 800-person town while they try to navigate the insurance process and figure out if or when they can return to their house to start rebuilding; hopefully before Christmas. In the meantime, without significant savings, they are in need of some help to cover food, hotel, clothing, transportation to work, and other basic needs.
If you or anyone you know has ever had to go through this process with insurance companies, contractors, utility companies, and so on, you know that this process can stretch out for quite some time. Any assistance that you can offer, whether sharing this or helping financially would be appreciated and will help Sarah and her family get through this tough time.
Thank you all so much!
