Rebuilding Safety and Peace for our Mom

Donation protected
On January 3, 2026, My mom lived through a terrifying domestic violence incident that no one should ever have to experience. What should have been a normal day quickly became a matter of survival. My dad physically harmed her during an altercation and refused to let her escape the home. She courageously called 911 and managed to get away thanks to her dad’s intervention, but not without deep emotional and physical trauma for the both of them.

When police arrived, the situation escalated there were weapons in the home, shots were fired, and SWAT was called in to ensure everyone’s safety. A shelter-in-place order was issued for our neighborhood while law enforcement worked to safely take him into custody.

Police were finally able to get my dad to surrender, and he was arrested on multiple felony charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated kidnapping connected to the violence that put our family in danger.

Thankfully, my mom survived this horrific ordeal, but her home was destroyed in the process. Everything she built her safety, her space, her peace was taken from her in an instant. Now, she is left to pick up the pieces, rebuild her life from scratch, and face the long road ahead.

Sadly, the financial impact has been devastating. With my dad in jail and unable to contribute in any way, my mom is struggling to make ends meet from monthly bills and rent to everyday living expenses, repairs, and the cost of creating a safe, stable home for herself again.

She never asked for any of this. All she wanted was a peaceful life, but instead she has been forced to confront fear, loss, and financial insecurity all at once.

My mom is one of the strongest people I know. She has been a caregiver, a supporter, and the heart of our family. Now she needs a community around her to help her rise again.
