Dear Friends, Family, & Supporters of Salkehatchie Summer Service,
As many of you already know our Rivertown Salkehatchie home, Trinity United Methodist Church, was devastated by hurricane Florence flood waters.
On October 4th, around 50 people gathered-including members, staff, & volunteers from other churches to pull up flooring, spray down walls, sidewalks, outdoor furniture & sift through what is left behind after the sanctuary and four other buildings sat chest deep in flooded water for more than two weeks.
In addition to the threat of black mold, the water that overtook Trinity was contaminated raw wastewater, the result of flooding of a nearby sewage plant. Months of work lie ahead for a congregation fighting back after its third flood in four years.
Rivertown Salkehatchie has been operating from Trinity United Methodist Church under the leadership of Director Jeff Davis for 18 years. In that time period, Jeff & hundreds of youth and adults have grown to have a more personal walk with their Lord & Savior. In addition, the community of Rivertown in Conway, SC has seen hundreds of homes & lives changed for the better. This one week every June makes miracles happen in lives of people who desperately need a helping hand.
Trinity UMC has supported Salkehatchie for the past 18 years, it is our turn to support Trinity. Please join us in giving a helping hand in any amount comfortable to you. No amount is too small. Together we can make a difference.
All monies donated to this fund will be used to repair, rebuild, and restore buildings of Trinity United Methodist. Camp Director Jeff Davis will be overseeing that the money given is used properly and efficiently to restore the buildings.
Thank you so much for your donations toward this church family.
