Rebuilding Rangi
Donation protected
Hello, thank you for opening and reading this. We may not have met, my name is Damien, and yet if you have received this, I am certain that your life has been touched by our mutual friend, Steve Rangi Ashmore.

You may not yet be aware yet but tragically on February 1st this year, Steve Rangi's life took an unexpected and devastating turn when the timber house he called home for 5 years in Thailand, was entirely and completely consumed by a fire. The only saving grace was that Steve was not at home at the time of the fire and remained physically uninjured. None the less, he returned to discover the heartbreaking loss of absolutely everything he has ever owned to the inferno.
Rangi has managed to cope thus far because of the kind, generous and much appreciated support from his closest friends. The effects of the pandemic and travel bans had already decimated the little savings he had. He is now realizing the full extent of the trauma and the fact that he's essentially starting from scratch. Not only the fire and the material loss have taken their toll on Rangi. In the months following the fire, he also faced a severe tropical infection in his arm, requiring two months of antibiotics for recovery. Despite these adversities, Rangi maintains a positive outlook and believes he can rebuild from this tragedy. He understands now that he needs to reach out and ask for help, from us, his friends.
All of Rangi's cherished memories, collected artifacts from years of study, travel, teachings and friendships, sacred tools crucial for his livelihood, his laptop, hard drives, crypto wallets and keys, passport, essential title documents, power tools, hand tools in his carpentry workshop, and all his personal paperwork were lost in the fire. What was not in his pockets that day, now no longer exists. Literally everything is gone but the love we have for him. He is still working through the long process to retain title over a plot of land in Thailand. More on that below.
On his behalf we have created this GoFundMe page to reach out to you with a heartfelt request, seeking your support to help him recover his life. Rangi does still own a plot of land upon which he hopes to rebuild his life, but he lacks the financial means and resources to construct a new home. The funds raised in this campaign will directly contribute to rebuilding a small house for him to live in and work from. Every contribution will significantly impact Rangi's ability to rebuild and move forward.
Your donations will directly assist with:
• Temporary housing during construction
• Applications and necessary paperwork
• Construction materials and labour
• Essential tools, appliances, and furnishings
• Basic living expenses
Rangi understands that times are financially challenging for many now and we are asking for help only from those who are able and willing to do so. He has done so much for so many people. He has helped and healed so many of us. It would mean so much to him if you could please consider making a donation to now help and support him on this challenging journey of rebuilding and rising, phoenix-like, into the next chapter of his life.
On behalf of Rangi and I, thank you for your kindness and for reading to this point. If you are able to give anything at all, please send what you can via the link given. Rest assured that every penny will go directly to Rangi’s personal account.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone else you think might be minded to help Rangi in this, his hour of need.
Yours sincerely and in gratitude,
Damien Lipman
