Hi, I’m Meagan, Mechelle’s oldest daughter. As most people know already, they have closed Pennyman’s Diner due to the building not being structurally sound because of an outdated ansol and exhaust system. The city will be condemning the building as it is just not safe to be in. The only way they would be able to stay is if the building is completely torn down and rebuilt, but the city also owns the building and property, so that’s not really an option for my family.

My mom and sister, along with lots of their customers, have been on the search for a new building to move to. However, with no income, moving is going to be incredibly hard and expensive, not to mention the existing bills that they have to pay as well.

I worked there for a good part of my life, and the diner has provided for my family in more ways than just money. The friendships and relationships that were created from working there are something that can’t be forgotten. The customers have seen all of my siblings plus our children grow up over the years, and they all hold a special place in our hearts.

Mom and Lu are devastated beyond words and are stressed about what comes next. So, I’m creating this account to hopefully help take some of that stress off of them until they can come up with a solution to this problem and even possibly help with opening a new place and become bigger and better! Also, since this was such a short notice their employees are now without a job and without income so donations would also go to help those employees that are in need as well.

I know that this is a difficult time for everyone and money is tight, but I’m asking that if you can donate just a little, anything will help, and my family would be most grateful for anything. And if you can’t give, that’s fine; prayers would be very much appreciated.
