VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE "Hope Reborn"
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Well Wishers,
I come to you today with a plea for help that stems from a nightmare that turned my world upside down. On December 3, 2022, I fell victim to a horrifying act of violence at the hands of my own husband. While I lay asleep, he strangled me, leaving me unconscious and fighting for my life.
I woke up in a hospital bed, surrounded by machines and unfamiliar faces. The hospital staff revealed that I had been in a coma for the past three days, kept alive only by life support systems. The doctors had given up hope, deeming my survival unlikely. But against all odds, I defied their expectations and emerged from the brink of death.
However, the aftermath of that traumatic night has left me in a state of misery, both physically and emotionally. I've endured vision loss due to subconjunctival hemorrhage, acute encephalopathy, pneumonia, brain stroke, vocal cord issues from severe sepsis, and a myriad of ongoing health problems including blurry vision, peripheral vision loss, neurological issues, and asthma. I've undergone retina barrier surgery for holes in the retina and lattice degeneration, and I continue to see multiple specialists for my treatment.
These health challenges have made it nearly impossible for me to cope with everyday activities. Simple tasks like reading, walking, and driving, especially at night, have become monumental challenges. Managing my home and resuming work feel like distant dreams.
It's been 15 months since that fateful night, and my medical issues and expenses have only compounded. The recent neurological report indicates a high likelihood of Lewy body dementia and vascular dementia, adding yet another layer of uncertainty and fear to my journey.
Before the incident, I was working as a Supply Chain Management consultant for software companies. However, the trauma I endured that fateful night has left me unable to work, struggling to cope with the physical and emotional aftermath.
Adding to our struggles, there has been no support from my husband, who has been incarcerated since the incident. Despite my best efforts, our financial situation has spiraled out of control. I used $52,000 of my hard-earned savings to secure our home, but now it's up for foreclosure because mortgage payments and taxes are overdue.
Your generosity can provide me and my two daughters (aged 6 and 10) with the lifeline we need to rebuild our shattered lives Your kindness can help prevent us from ending up on the streets, facing an uncertain and daunting future.
Thank you for considering our plea and for being a beacon of hope in our darkest hour.
With deepest appreciation,
