On Christmas day, when Adam, Elowyn, and I returned from visiting family out of town, we found one whole side of our house had flooded from the large storm we had in Sacramento. The water was coming up from under the floor in both bathrooms, our bedroom, and another bedroom in the house. Then our world came crashing down when we found out insurance isn’t going to cover any of it. We had just spent such an amazing day celebrating our daughter’s first real Christmas only to come home to find our home in devastation.
Adam and I have been married for 8 years and have always wanted a family. We knew we wanted to have a home and to fill it with a few kids, pets, and a lot of laughter. Shortly after getting married, we bought a home while I was finishing college and my husband worked hard, long hours as a mail carrier. Then it took 7 years, a loss, and costly fertility treatments to finally bring our miracle Elowyn into the world. We finally felt like things were falling into place for us. We were going to make all our dreams come true.
Now we have to have all the bathrooms redone, all the walls and flooring torn out and replaced, and repair the exterior so no more water comes in. Our home also has tested positive for asbestos, so on top of all the repairs, we will need to have a specialized company come in to do it. After all of the fertility treatments, we can’t afford to pay for any of this to be done. We will be moving in with family but will have to continue paying for the mortgage until we can either sell or find a way to pay for this.
Adam and I hate to ask for help, but we have no other options. Absolutely anything you can donate will help us get back on solid footing for ourselves and our daughter. Thank you so much for your support. We appreciate it more than you could ever know.
