Rebuilding Nem’s Walls: A Call for Help and Hope

Donation protected
There are people in this world who dedicate their lives to lifting others up—mentors, leaders, and selfless friends who make their communities better. Nem is one of those people.

Named after Nehemiah, the biblical man who rebuilds the walls of Jerusalem, Nem has always been a builder—not just of walls but of dreams, friendships, and opportunities. A dedicated mentor, a passionate coach, and an unwavering supporter of newcomers, he is the helping hand that so many need when starting fresh in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

But now, Nem needs us.

The Journey of a Fighter

Nem’s story is one of resilience and determination. From the moment he steps onto Canadian soil, he has one goal: to build a better future, not just for himself but for everyone around him. He works tirelessly, climbing the ranks in the hospitality industry to become an inspiring hotel manager, guiding and uplifting his team. His leadership isn’t just about numbers or efficiency—it’s about people.

Outside of work, Nem’s heart leads him to coaching kids’ basketball, shaping young athletes not just into better players but into better individuals. He is also volunteering as a youth leader every Wednesday in a local Christian church, connecting with youth members as they grow together with Jesus. His passion for helping others extends beyond the court and workplace—he becomes a pillar for newcomers, guiding them through the challenges of settling in a new country.

Nem is also a devoted dog lover, a testament to his kindness and compassion. He has a beagle named Kopiko, a beloved companion who is a manifestation of the love he shares with his wife, Jovi. His gentle and caring nature toward animals reflects the same warmth he extends to the people around him. Nem’s heart is big, and his love for dogs is just one example of how deeply he cares for all living beings.

But Nem isn’t just a mentor or a leader; he is an adventurer at heart. A passionate biker enthusiast, he finds peace and freedom on the open road, riding across mountains, feeling the wind against his skin, and conquering new trails. His love for travel and exploration reflects his spirit—always pushing forward, always seeking new horizons.

Beyond biking, Nem is a marathon enthusiast who thrives on the rush of running. He actively participates in fun runs and marathons, using his passion for running to support causes that matter. Whether it’s raising awareness for charities or simply encouraging others to embrace an active lifestyle, Nem is always moving, always contributing, and always giving his best for the greater good.

And he does it all with a smile.

Nem’s hard work finally pays off when he achieves permanent residency in Canada, a milestone that symbolizes everything he fights for. But just when life seems to be falling into place, tragedy strikes.

A Battle for Life

On January 15, 2025, life takes an unexpected and heartbreaking turn for Nem. That night, he is rushed to Regina General Hospital, suffering from a brain hemorrhage. A CT scan reveals the severity of his condition, and he is immediately taken into emergency surgery, where doctors drain approximately 70 cc of blood and brain fluid. To relieve the pressure on his brain, he is placed in an induced coma for two weeks, with an External Ventricular Drain (EVD) continuously removing excess fluid.

For three weeks, he stayed in the Surgical ICU, fighting for his life before being transferred to the Neuroscience Ward, where his battle continues.

Nem is now off the ventilator but still relies on high-flow oxygen. The External Ventricular Drain (EVD) has been removed, and he is conscious, slowly beginning to reawaken his senses and responses.

As he embarks on the long road to recovery, the challenges ahead are immense. With only Nem and his wife living in Canada, while the rest of their immediate family remains in the Philippines, navigating this journey is incredibly difficult without support in all aspects.

The man who once rode freely through mountain trails, chasing the thrill of the open road, now faces the toughest trail of his life—one that he cannot conquer alone. But just as he has always tackled challenges head-on, we believe that with our support, he can find his way back to the ride of his life.

How You Can Help

We need your support—no matter the amount, every contribution makes a difference. Every donation helps cover essential medical care, rehabilitation therapies, and unforeseen expenses that are not covered by insurance. His family and loved ones are doing everything they can, but they cannot do it alone.

As Nem’s recovery progresses, he and his wife will likely need to relocate to a ground-floor apartment, as their current basement home with a stair entrance may no longer be suitable for his physical needs. Your generosity will help ensure he has a safe and accessible environment for his healing journey.

It is expected that Nem will undergo a lengthy recovery process.

Every donation, every prayer, and every share of this message counts.

Nem believes in people; he believes in fresh starts, second chances, and building strong foundations. Now, we have the opportunity to be his foundation, to help rebuild Nem’s walls just as Nehemiah does in Jerusalem.

Let’s come together to give Nem the strength to fight, to heal, and to one day stand tall again—not just as a survivor, but as the biker, leader, mentor, a loving husband, devoted dog dad, passionate runner, and friend we all know him to be.

Donate today. Share his story. Be a part of Nem’s comeback.
